What We Use
Universalvani uses minimal browser storage to run the site, plus one third-party advertising cookie (Meta Pixel) — and that one only ever runs if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. Specifically:
- sessionStorage (cleared when you close your browser tab) — used at checkout to remember your name/email temporarily so your success page can greet you personally.
- localStorage (persists until cleared) — used for on-site features like your wishlist and recently-viewed books, and to remember your cookie-banner choice, stored only on your device, never sent to our servers.
- Payment gateway cookies — Razorpay and Cashfree may set their own cookies during the checkout process, governed by their respective privacy policies, to secure and process your payment.
- Hosting/security cookies — our hosting provider, Vercel, may use minimal cookies or headers for security and performance purposes.
- Meta Pixel (advertising, consent-gated) — sets Meta's own ad-attribution cookie (
_fbp) so we can measure how our Meta/Facebook ads perform. This only runs if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit; declining, or simply not responding, means this cookie is never set. You can change your mind any time by clearing your browser's local storage and reloading the page.
What We Don't Use
We never set an advertising cookie without your explicit consent — if you decline our cookie banner, or haven't responded to it yet, no third-party advertising cookie is set on your device, full stop. Beyond Meta Pixel (above), we don't run any other advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell any data collected via cookies or local storage to advertisers.
Managing Cookies
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so may reset your wishlist, recently-viewed list, or an in-progress checkout session.
